The web page time sink

I've maintained and designed (such as it is) the Tacky Tourist Clubs web site since, oh -- about 1996. It might have even been '95 when I first put up a page on a personal account.

Long time.

But I just realized why it's so difficult for me to keep changing it. Something like this can be an amazing time-sink. Every time I do actually look at the site, there is so much to do, I feel overwhelmed.

This time around, I got pulled into the nasty world of search engine optimization. Yikes! I guess that sub-industry on the web is where all the folks went who would have become used-car or burial-insurance salesmen a decade ago. But there is something to it all, of course. And once I found actual information about how to increase the liklihood that someone will find the site in a search engine, I was prompted to make changes that were more widespread than I had expected.

But it's up. It's live. And now maybe I can go back to ignoring it.
